The history and age of the items are usually unknown. I will try to describe the items to the best of my ability. This Listing: Large, Vintage Graniteware Butter Churn. It could also be used as a water or milk can, but there is no spout. It is also the exact shape, and similar color to one shown in "The Collector's Encyclopedia of Granite Ware".The churn shown there is the same shape, but more gray, with one white band in the center. It does have the metal lid or cover. It was in better condition than the one offered here, with fewer dents & enamel loss + it had the wood parts. Size: About 10-1/2" wide (without handles) x 17-1/4" Tall to rim.
The pot has a seam across the middle & 2 handles. This piece was well used in its life, which only adds to the character. There are dents around the top that almost look like they were factory made during production / shaping.Several spots of enamel missing..... Lid has dents and missing enamel as well. The churn weighs 5 lbs. And will have to use an over sized box. Be sure to check out the other items available in my store.
