Wapakoneta, Ohio, 50 Butter Churn - OLD. Pretty decent shape for an old antique piece like this but it does bear some old termite damage from sometime during its earlier life. Fairly clean on the interior (see photos).
Using a computer dust can I blew out all of the debris in the two holes that the termites ate through at one time and it appears there's no trace of them. Nothing fresh, nothing moves, nothing came out of there so it appears (after waiting and checking frequently for about 15 minutes) that they are gone - but you might want to spray in the holes when you get it just in case. Also please see the top portion of the churn where there's a crack in the iron, but the lid, when screwed down, still holds perfectly fast. This is obviously not a live churn to be used for churning butter, but a display piece. There's also one of those double point nails missing that holds one of the four locking mechanisms in place on the lid, but that's easily replaced and they're really cheap, maybe a few cents each, from any hardware store. A few of the staves have slipped loose but can be pushed back into position.
The churn had a stand at one time, but doesn't need one as it's a 3 gallon and not 5. There's a patina of rust on the metal. The handle no longer turns. The handle portion of it has wood which is intact. It has a number 44 written on the top. MEASUREMENTS APPROXIMATE: 13" diameter, 20" tall, 20 wide if you include the handle.
