Antique oak barrel butter churn with original stand. All parts included and in working order.Barrel is 19" high and 15" across top and bottom. The stand is 24" high and 22" across the base. Barrel in the stand is 31 high.
The patent date on the counter weight is partially illegible. Visible is Patent Dec and an unreadable date.10 patent dates appeared on these churns. All these patents were either granted to Samuel Palmer or assigned to Henry Palmer. The dates of these patents were September 2, 1879, June 1, 1880 (reissue of a Sept 4, 1877 patent), February 21, 1882, February 21, 1888, two patents on December 17, 1889 and four patents on December 31, 1889. Since there are just 2 dates with the month of December, I'm estimating this churn was manufactured in 1889, although I can't be certain of this.
